MARANATHA
What does that mean?
It means "Come, Lord (Jesus)." It's found in the penultimate (okay, the last but one!) verse of the Bible, Revelation 21:20.
It's also the name for a Community of Christians that began in Flixton, Manchester, and now extends over the British Isles and abroad, though still based in Flixton. There are local Maranatha groups in many towns that meet regularly for prayer, fellowship and action.
There's one in Conwy that meets on the first Wednesday of alternate months.
There is also a group in Mold that meets monthly.
Active across all denominations, it is not a church, but a scattered, loving community whose aim is to help people to be better Christians where they live, work and worship, and whose calling is to pray and work for unity, healing and renewal. It is deeply involved in intensive research into many social issues and has repeatedly spoken out for truth, justice and righteousness and is very active in Parliament.
